My View

    Nowadays, media is the strongest exploder of information. We are using our phones, laptops, TV, smartwatches to repost information and put it to the internet, and as a result, we bring it to the masses. There are a lot of types of information to share by media, but today I want to talk about sports in media, and its’ advantages and disadvantages.

  There are a lot of advantages in mediated sports. Firstly, media shares it to children, and sharing sport means sharing health, as I mentioned in my previous posts, statistics showed that health issues are decreasing, because of increasing popularity of mediated sports.

  Secondly, media helps to develop sport in all senses. For example, in previous posts I told about Pro Futuro Sports organization, and it is clear that without media no one would not know about their unique chance to be professional sportsmen and study in the best universities of the world.

  Thirdly, mediated sports can make influence on financial situation in the country, and increase its’ financial indicators, because this direction in media creates new market for collecting taxes, especially during huge global events as world championships etc., because of providing people with part-time jobs and stream of fans from all parts of the world, who will spend money on flight tickets, hotels, restaurants etc.

  Moreover, media content concerning sports give consumers fresh news about sport, and unique facts, which they had never heard about their favorite sport. Also, sport media shows us, some exclusive content about teams, and it gives good example to younger generation how to work in team.

  On the other hand, along with advantages there is great number of disadvantages. Firstly, sport media content is full off violence, during matches or tournaments, it affects youth, who are watching this content, because they try to follow their favorite players, who sometimes show bad example to follow.

  Secondly, sport media is full off unnecessary information, which make online streaming longer and very often makes fans feeling embarrassed. Also, advertisements in mediated sports very often are not suitable for young audience, or sport stars participate in advertisements with sexual content, because brands are using their popularity to reach wider audience. Good example is a lot of advertisements with Cristiano Ronaldo of men’s underwear, some parts of this content are not suitable for young audience and fans of Cristiano. I will provide an example after my essay.

  All things considered, media can be both useful and harmful in all spheres, not only in sport, but I decided to research on this topic, because sport is part of life of each person on our planet, and it is becoming more popular each year, sometimes it can be strongly connected with politics and influence on wars or political conflicts, how it happened in the football match between England and Argentina, during World Cup in Mexico. I want all aspects of sport be understood in a right way, especially by children, because they are building our future, but it will happen only if media will present content in appropriate way, that’s why media companies should understand their responsibility in this sphere.

    As you mentioned, recently, the media and sports have strong relationship, and it should be used properly. Some people who are easily influenced, especially small children, might imitate the bad behavior of the athlete like a fighting in a baseball match. Therefore, the media should show the good behavior of sports. In addition, the audiences also need to distinguish the good and evil of the sports by their moral.
